Our local regional community is comprised of a number of organizations that offer services above and beyond the work of ÆÞÓÑapp. We below offer a collection of these local and regional organizations, organized by service area. Feel free to take a look at the work these groups are doing.

Community Services

    • Operates eight libraries in our area, holds numerous events and offers online book lending and free e-learning

Mental HealthÌý

    • Provides resources and support for Virginia residents with behavioral health needs
  • Provides support, education, and advocacy for area residents who have mental health concerns
    • Promotes recovery, wellness, and healing
    • Offers support and advocacy to individuals in our region
    • Provides advocacy and support to state residents affected by mental illness
    • The nation’s largest grassroots organization for people affected by mental illness
    • Provides a statewide network of peers to offer support and resources
    • Advocates for organizations that provide behavioral healthcare treatment

Substance Use Disorder

    • Connects individuals with inpatient rehab centers
    • Provides resources and information for individuals with substance use disorder
    • A fellowship program that promotes sobriety
    • A fellowship for individuals who are worried about a loved one’s drinking
    • Provides peer-based support groups
    • Researches scientific explorations of substance use disorder
    • Provides information on rehab centers across the country
    • Leads national public efforts about behavioral health

Early Intervention

    • Helps families of children ages 4 and under who have just received an autism diagnosis
    • Connects families who have loved ones with Down Syndrome
    • Provides 10 ideas for ways to augment speech therapy
    • Provides early intervention supports for babies and toddlers
    • Helps parents navigate the early intervention system
    • Provides support and education for individuals with autism and their families

Prevention

    • Raises awareness about suicide and prevention efforts
    • Promotes positive outcomes for youth and their families in our region
    • Provides home visiting for at-risk families
    • Provides home visiting and support for at-risk families in our region
    • Provides training on suicide prevention and education in Virginia
    • Provides resources on courses to help people with mental health crises
    • Provides information on bullying and resources for preventing it
    • Provides free support for people in distress
